Why are cleaning and maintenance required?
The magnetic gasket on the door needs to be cleaned of debris to maintain a proper seal.
This can be done easily by customers at home and we can demonstrate during the installation.
Most of the time your trash areas are out of sight and out of mind. Cleaning rubbish chute hoppers may not make your priority list, but its routine maintenance can assure a pleasant experience in your home. Proper maintenance allows MAXDEN to seal out cockroaches and poisons during fumigation and is a necessary step in your home maintenance.
How often should I clean and maintain my hopper in this way?
MAXDEN recommends this be done every 6 to 12 months, depending on accumulation.
Once debris builds up along the sealing area or gasket, your seal will be compromised.

It's important to remove the physical debris that is inside the door.
Use a soft bristle brush to hand clean the chute doors, hinges, seals, and surrounding interior.
This removes physical debris, bug waste, dirt, and dust.
Cleaning the sealing edges ensure an air-tight and complete seal.
To do this, MAXDEN will apply an industrial degreaser.
At home, cou can use dishwashing soap and water but we do not recommends caustic products.
A cleaning agent is applied to a cleaning material, such as a paper towel, sturdy tissue, or disposable rag.
Then, the cleaning agent is applied to the white, sealing surface within the door's interior.
Make sure to fully clean the door.
To make sure the hinge continues to operate smoothly, apply lubricating oil.
The gasket is oil-resistant and so you can apply cooking oil, olive oil, car engine oil - or even WD-40.
This oil is first applied to the interior of the hinge. Open and close it a few times to allow the oil to seep in.
Make sure to clean any excess oil with a disposable rag or paper towel.
Next, double check and dry all the sealing surfaces to make sure there is no debris or waste.
Then, lightly apply oil to the door's white sealing surface and rub it in. Make sure to remove any excess oil at the end.
